No more 3 putts

Putting is really important in golf and that can not be emphasised enough.

The touch and feel that you need to successfully putt are learned skills, gained through experience and practice and regardless of skill level, if you take into account your good putting days and those where you couldn’t even buy a putt, putting accounts for almost 50% of your total strokes.

Improving your putting isn’t about being perfect, its about doing the important things really well – aiming, keeping the face angle under control, keeping the stroke on line through impact, having a constant impact point and having great stroke rhythm. Doing these things well will result in you starting the ball on your desired target line, at your desired speed, which will give you the greatest chance of getting the ball into the hole in the fewest number of strokes possible.

The best players in the world only manage, on average, to hit 12 out of 18 greens per round. However even though they miss one third of greens when they play, they still shoot par! The answer to how they manage to shoot around level par with so many missed greens is because they achieve a low number of putts. The best players in the world average 30 putts per round and if you consider each green is worth 2 putts, that there are 18 greens in a round of golf and the average course par is 72, that makes putting worth 50% of your score.

So getting to work on lowering the percentage number of putts that your score is comprised of, will dramatically affect your scoring and if you got rid of all the 3 putts that you currently make during a round, how much lower would your score be?

Putting is REALLY important in golf.

Programme Content

  • Programme introduction and overview.
  • Part 1 – Set up basics
This will show you the basics of getting set up well so that you can make a great repetitive putting stroke. Includes basic ball position, eye line and arm position, grip options and balance.
  • Part 2 – Putting action and drill
Here we discuss how to achieve repetition in your putting stroke and the most suitable action to achieve this.
  • Part 3 – Distance control strike
Having one impact point on the putter face every time that you putt, will massively improve your skill with distance control. This chapter helps you to achieve this.
  • Part 4 – Swing length & speed
A repetitive putting stroke length and rhythm is another skill to work on improving if you are going to get rid of 3 putts. Here we discuss how to train yourself to achieve this.
  • Part 5 – Distance control drill
Now we start to put it all together and help you to train yourself in the most effective & efficient way to achieve progress. This chapter looks at your first initial putt and how to approach getting that putt as close to the hole as possible.
  • Part 6 – Distance skill development
With this chapter we further develop the skills of touch and feel for distance putts and add the element of pressure to simulate playing under on course conditions.
  • Part 7 – Holing short putts
Now that you have the necessary touch and feel skills for your initial distance putt we now look at holing the short putt that you are left with so that you achieve a two putt and NO MORE 3 PUTTS.
  • Programme conclusion.

    Hit your driver farther

Nothing is better than absolutely ripping your driver. There is no better feeling than bombing your tee shot, knocking your ball passed everyone else in the group and being last to play into the green from close range. Yes there are lots of elements to the game of golf and there is still a lot of work to do to finish the hole, but being able to hit that long ball off the tee certainly makes the game a whole lot easier, especially on today’s tough and ever lengthening golf courses.
