Why & how to flatten your left wrist at the top of your back swing

Full swing - back swing

If you want to hit straighter golf shots then you should check the position you get your wrists in to at the top of your back swing. Having a better position as you begin your down swing will make it much easier for you to square the club face through impact, giving you more control over your ball flight and resultant shot. Here’s a video to show you how to get the club face in to that better position at the top.

Loss of spine angle, or posture, or early extension all mean the same thing for golfers – standing up too much during your down swing. This results in a lack of body rotation through impact, meaning you aren’t hitting the ball as far as you could, difficulty in controlling the club face, meaning you aren’t as accurate as you could be and inconsistent strikes from the club face, meaning a variation in shot trajectory. This video looks at the cause of standing up through impact, the correct position to work on achieving and a range drill to help you improve your movement and positions.
