In our awkward lies series, we look at the changes you need to make to hit a great golf shot off a slope. In this video we consider how to play well when faced with the ball on a down hill slope when you are out on the golf course and the effect that such a slope has on the flight of the golf ball.

In our awkward lies series we look at the changes you need to make to hit a great golf shot off a slope. With this video we consider how to play well when faced with the ball below your feet whilst out on the golf course and the difference that this produces in the ball flight.

Being able to get the golf ball close to the pin from 20, 30 or 40 yards is a crucial shot to learn to play if you want to lower your scores. Here we look at how to set up and hit the perfect pitch shot and also how to vary the trajectory of the shot, so that you can finish close to the flag every time, from any situation that you find yourself facing when out on the golf course.

Being able to hit a solid but deliberately low trajectory golf shot, when you have got slightly out of position on the golf course, can make a big difference to your score. Hitting the golf ball a long way but on a low trajectory, to avoid over hanging tree branches for example, is a great recovery shot to be able to play when needed and can mean that you still hit the green in regulation, even though you are playing from a less than ideal position. Here we look at how to do just that successfully.

Starting your golf swing correctly is absolutely crucial. Having the correct wrist movement, body turn and arm rotation in the initial phase of your back swing will set you up to achieve a great swing movement and give you every chance to strike consistently, long, accurate golf shots. With this video we look specifically at the role of the wrists, body and arms in achieving that perfect take away move.

With this video we look at how to hit from the inside and also retain club face control. A great deal of golfers learn to get the club head on the inside for an in to out swing path, but leave the club face too open to the target whilst doing this, producing a blocked golf shot, or one that misses the target to the right. Here’s how to keep on the inside, but have a less open club face, so you hit more accurately at the target and maybe even see yourself producing a draw!!

Here we look at how to increase your pelvis or hip rotation as you make your down swing, so that your pelvis is rotated towards the target before you deliver the golf club to strike the ball. Achieving this position with the pelvis through impact, will increase the distance you can strike your golf shots and also result in you having better club face control as you strike through impact. You will not need to use your hands and wrists so much through impact in an attempt to make the club face more square as you strike, as improving pelvis rotation helps to achieve a much squarer club face before, during and after impact – so you will hit more consistently at the target.

Understanding and achieving the optimal position and movement of your lead wrist as you swing your golf club and especially as you move through impact, will allow your to hit much more solid, straight and longer golf shots. This video shows you what lead wrist conditions you should aim to achieve and a great drill to help you learn the correct feel.
